Free Advice: How to use Newsreaders
If you know how to use email, you can just as easily use Newsreaders. It is that easy to use! I posted a message on Nov 30 of last year that I would show readers how to use Newsreaders. It is true that if you are not using Newsreaders as a blogger or as a Internet surfer that you are missing out big time. For the bloggers, you would be missing out on many Internet surfers who use only Newsreaders to surf the net who would not be able to access your site if it is not Newsreaders ready. Many of the savvy surfers no longer have to use the old-fashioned way of accessing Internet sites via favorites or just entering a web address - they use Newsreaders. As a reader of Internet articles, you would be saving a lot time if you started using Newsreaders. I came to know of Newsreaders two years ago, and that is how I get to read my news articles each day. Newsreaders save time, a lot of time, because they would list the websites of interest to you on a single web page, and they will list for you the new articles as they get posted to each of your favorite sites.
How do you start using Newsreaders? You will need to download a newsreader. That is it! There are many, and you may have to try more than one to see if there is one you like better than another. I first started using Bloglines, and then tried two or three more, and finally settled on GoogleReader. There is a reason for that: Googlereader saves the last 1000 articles as opposed to 200 for Bloglines. If you go fishing for a few days or moutain climbing or whatever your hobby is, GoogleReader would have saved 1000 of the last articles posted at each website of your choice.
Are all websites accessible via Newsreaders? Most are, and more and more sites are catching on. My blog is not yet NewsReader ready yet, only because I have to write a few lines of code to make it ready, and I have not had the time, nor the inclination - thus far.
How do you know if a website you like is Newsreaders ready? Most of the big companies such as New York Times, washing post have jumped on the bandwagon and they are all NewsReader ready. In addition, they give their readers the opportunity to choose if they want their Newsreaders to pickup all that they post, or let you choose a sub-category such as sports news only.
Free blogs such as blogger (blogspot), wordpress are all newsreader ready. All you have to do is copy the domain name and add it to your Newsreader. For private blogs, you will soon learn what the Newsreader link looks like when you view the list below of companies with newsreaders that I have provided.
Once you start using Newsreaders, you will never go back to the old way of accessing sites. The only problem is that not all sites have their websites Newsreader ready. The last time I read about who is using Newsreaders was in 2005, and at that time 15% of surfers were onto Newsreaders. That number must have risen much higher by now.
Below I list a few of the Newsreaders that you need to download. You only need one, but you may want to download more than one to see which one you like better. Once you download it, you keep adding the websites you like to your newsreader. That's it! Very easy!
